Overview

Of the many branches and stations that the Ministry of Defense (MOD) is responsible for, one of the more influential ones is the Al Udeid Air Base which is a military base located west of Doha, and is home to the forward headquarters of United States Central Command (USCC) and United State Air Force Central Command (USAFCC). The Al Udeid Air Base is a lasting example of the relationship between the United States and Qatar. It has the longest runway in the region, which is about 5,000 meters or 15,000 feet, and can accommodate almost 100 aircrafts. 

The Al Udeid Air Base is also home to Camp Andy. Camp Andy is a 288-tent complex in the Al Udeid Qatar air base, and is named in honor of Master Sergeant Evander Earl “Andy” Andrews. Camp Andy serves as the Al Udeid Air Base Qatar dorms.

The Ministry of Defense continues to grow and foster its relationship with the United States and the United States military. With continued cooperation, both countries are working to strive for regional peace and stability.
