Overview
Founded in 2005 under the directive of the Father Emir, Al Meera Consumer Goods Company (Q.P.S.C.) is a shareholding company governed by the Qatari Commercial Law & articles of Incorporations, It is governed by the Qatari Commercial Law and Memorandum of Association under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. A Meera is 26% owned by the Qatar Holding Company, and 74% owned by shareholders. The company has been listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange since October 28th, 2009.
Al Meera is has 54 branches across Qatar, making the company a Mass Grocery Retailer (MGR) and the biggest retail chain in the country. The Company operates in three business segments: the Retail segment comprises the buying and selling of consumer goods; the Investment segment includes equity and funds held as available-for-sale investments, and fixed deposits, and the Leasing segment includes mainly of renting shops in various malls owned by the Company.
