MetLife
Overview
MetLife is one of the world’s leading financial services companies, providing insurance, annuities, employee benefits and asset management to help its individual and institutional customers. Founded in 1868, MetLife has operations in more than 40 countries and holds market positions in the United States, Japan, Latin America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. They currently serve approximately 100 million customers. Their growth has largely been recognized as the product of organic growth, acquisitions, joint ventures and other partnerships. They are continuing to strengthen their global brand by extending core products and competencies to markets around the world – an important driver of growth for the enterprise.
MetLife has been operating in the State of Qatar since 1962, offering a range of individual and group insurance products through agents, brokers, banks and direct channels. MetLife is one of Qatar National Bank’s (QNB’s) closest insurance partners. In 2015 and 2016, MetLife was the winner of the Life Insurance Company of the Year Award at the Middle East Insurance Industry Awards (MIIA), organized by Middle East Insurance Review.
Within the organization, MetLife is continuing to push for representation of women, veterans, and those with diverse abilities. Their Global Women’s Initiative seeks to increase representation of women in leadership roles by—identifying and attracting women to MetLife globally, offering career development and skill building for women, ensuring that all women thrive at MetLife. They have created programs such as the Developing Women’s Career Experience, a nomination-based 14-month program to help prepare emerging women leaders for more complex leadership roles and broader experiences.
MetLife is part of the US-Qatar Business Council’s Board of Directors.
