Ministry of Finance
Overview
The Qatari Ministry of Finance (MOF) is in charge of many aspects of the financial operations of Qatar. It is involved in the regulation of financial policies, the oversight of public finances, the draft and implementation of Qatar’s State Budget, and the management and refinement of the fiscal policy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The Ministry of Finance has played a significant role in recent progressive developments for the country. This includes efforts made toward improving Qatar’s economic ranking from 77th in 2020. In the most recent report of Doing Business, Qatar was recognized as being 1st in registering property, 3rd in paying taxes, and the 13th in construction permits within the region. Additionally, Qatar was ranked 14th in The World Competitiveness Yearbook 2020, 6th in economic performance, and 8th in information and communication technology adoption. Qatar is now one of the top countries in the finance category; this is in contrast to Qatar’s ranking of 29th in the World Competitiveness the year prior. The Ministry of Finance continues to work on advancing its many objectives and further improving the financial performance of Qatar with its neighbors and partners.
