Overview

ConocoPhillips is one of the world’s largest independent exploration and production (E&P) companies. ConocoPhillips explores for, produces, transports, and markets crude oil, bitumen, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and liquified natural gas on a worldwide basis. In 2003, ConocoPhillips and Qatar Petroleum signed a Heads of Agreement to develop Qatargas 3.

ConocoPhillips signed another major agreement in 2003 to develop Qatargas 3, a large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar. ConocoPhillips holds a 30 percent interest in this integrated project comprising approximately 1.4 gross BCFD of natural gas production over the 25 year life span of the project, as well as an initial average volume of approximately 70 gross MBPD of liquefied petroleum gas and condensate combined from Qatar’s North field.

ConocoPhillips also has its hands in many other sectors of the Qatari economy including The ConocoPhillips Global Water Sustainability Center (GWSC). GWSC is located in the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP). The center examines ways of treating and recycling by-product water from oil and gas production operations, as well as other projects related to industrial and municipal water sustainability. It has been designated as a ConocoPhillips worldwide center of excellence for water-related technologies, disseminating findings to the company’s global operations, as well as local government and industry partners. The visitor’s center at GWSC promotes water conservation and other sustainability endeavors.

Overview

In Qatar, ExxonMobil has partnered with Qatar Petroleum to develop the North Field, the world’s largest non-associated natural gas field. Through the Qatargas-operated joint ventures, they have participated in 12 of the 14 LNG trains, 27 of the world’s largest LNG ships and Qatar’s largest condensate refinery. Further down the LNG value chain, ExxonMobil has partnered with QP in three LNG receiving terminals in Europe and the United States.

Additionally, ExxonMobil is the only foreign participant in two domestic gas projects – Al Khaleej Gas and Barzan Gas. ExxonMobil also provides technical and management expertise to directly support Qatar Petroleum through technical services and secondments of ExxonMobil employees. ExxonMobil affiliates are working with Qatar Petroleum (QP) to identify International joint venture opportunities that further enhance the portfolio of both parties in countries such as Brazil, Argentina, the United States and Cyprus.

In 2009, ExxonMobil Research Qatar (EMRQ) was established at Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) to conduct research in areas of common interest to the State of Qatar and ExxonMobil. Scientists and researchers at EMRQ continue to advance projects in environmental management, water reuse, LNG safety and coastal geology. By using global knowledge to develop local resources, EMRQ is able to create an invaluable link between the local and international research communities.

Overview

Qatar Chemical Company Ltd. (Q-Chem) is a joint venture company owned by Chevron Phillips Chemical Qatar (49%) (a subsidiary of Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LLC) and Qatar Petroleum (51%) in Mesaieed, Qatar. Its integrated petrochemical complex includes a 500,000-metric-ton-per-year ethylene cracker, a 453,000-metric-ton-per-year polyethylene (PE) plant, and a 47,000-metric-ton-per-year 1-hexene plant.

As of current, there are now two other projects that have grown to be part of Qatar Chemical Company. Following the outstanding performance of the first Q-Chem plant production, the founders of Q-Chem embarked on a new 2 billion USD project called Q-Chem II. Constructed adjacent to the Q-Chem plant in Mesaieed Industrial City, the Q-Chem II facility takes advantage of economies of scale to produce 350,000 million tons per year of high density polyethylene, and introduced the first full range Normal Alpha Olefins (NAO) unit with a production capacity 345,000 MTA. The second project is Ras Laffan Olefins Company Ltd (RLOC) and it is a world-class 1.3 million MTA ethylene cracker unit which was inaugurated in 2010. All three of these projects work to process all chemical and chemical products within the State of Qatar.

Overview

Honeywell is an American multinational technology company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. They deliver industry specific solutions that include aerospace products and services; control technologies for buildings and industry; safety and productivity solutions; and performance and performance materials globally. With a workforce of 110,000 employees, Honeywell has over 970 international sites and is present in 70 countries. This year, Honeywell made $33B in sales and was a Fortune 100 company.

Honeywell has four core values that its business practices are modeled after. They support employee volunteerism in the community, integrity and compliance, sustainability, and inclusion and diversity. This has allowed them to consistently innovate and bring change to the industry. Honeywell claims credit for some of the biggest inventions of the last century— including autopilot, the most widely used barcode, and unleaded gasoline. 

In 2020, Honeywell partnered with QatarGas to implement a project innovative in its scale. Honeywell was selected as the main instrument and control contractor to support the North Field East (NFE) project, the largest LNG project in the world. Honeywell’s technology will provide the NFE project with streamlined automation and safety systems while reducing schedule risks and delivering efficiencies.

Barzan Aeronautical LLC operates as an independent commercial company focused on the application and use of aerial Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) systems that support the defense and security requirements of Qatar, the United States, and NATO allies. Barzan Aeronautical works with US and NATO governments and top US defense and aviation companies supporting the deployment of aerial ISR systems for defense, security, and environmental use.

Barzan Aeronautical’s vision is an extension of their current operations. They hope to invest in the people, capabilities, technologies, and alliances in the US in furtherance of Qatar´s close and abiding relationship with the United States and NATO. Barzan Aeronautical’s headquarters is in Charleston, South Carolina  which is considered one of the largest “hubs” in aviation, engineering, and advanced manufacturing in the United States. Charleston was not only chosen for its current employment talent but also for its potential with future generations.

Lockheed Martin is a global security, aerospace, and information technology company that works closely with the US government as well as with governments around the world. Headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, it employs 123,000 people worldwide. Lockheed Martin has over 375 facilities and 16,000 active suppliers, including suppliers in every US state and more than 1,000 suppliers in over 50 countries outside the US

Lockheed Martin has been working in Qatar for nearly thirty years. In addition to supporting a strong national defense capability, the team works to establish new partnerships within Qatar in areas to promote education and manufacturing. Recently, Lockheed has provided fighter jets and other military systems to the Qatar Air Force through a series of contracts.

Lockheed has four main business areas that their business is ordered around— aeronautics, missiles and fire control, rotary and mission systems, and space. Along with those key areas, they are leading innovators in hypersonic capabilities that travel Mach 5 or more, directed energy that travels at the speed of light, and autonomous systems used for a variety of military and commercial applications.

Along with their own innovations, Lockheed is also interested in nurturing innovations created by others. Since 2007, they have invested more than $100 million in startup companies through Lockheed Martin Ventures. These companies are developing innovative technologies in the core or interest areas of Lockheed Martin. These emerging innovations have the potential to become foundational technologies that solve the complex customer challenges. The Boeing Company

Boeing is the world’s leading aerospace company and the largest manufacturer of commercial jetliners and military aircraft combined. Additionally, Boeing designs and manufactures rotorcraft, electronic and defense systems, missiles, satellites, launch vehicles, and advanced information and communication systems. As a major service provider to NASA, Boeing is the prime contractor for the International Space Station. The company also provides numerous military and commercial airline support services. 

Boeing provides products and support services to customers in 150 countries and is one of the largest US exporters in terms of sales. Headquartered in Chicago, Boeing employs more than 168,000 people across the United States and in more than 65 countries. Total company revenues for 2019 were $76.55 billion.

Qatar is one of the world’s largest growing aerospace markets with the rapid expansion of the country as a commercial transportation hub and the country’s evolving security needs. Boeing’s specialization in those fields means they value their partnership with Qatar and the nations carrier, Qatar Airways, and are committed to building on relationships with the country for mutual benefit in the future. In addition to exporting equipment to Qatar, Boeing is committed to supporting various education and training programs and initiatives in the country. It is also committed to working with nonprofit partners in order to address the needs of the Qatari community.

Overview

Founded in 1889, General Electric (GE) is an multinational company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. It is best known for its work in the Power, Renewable Energy, Aviation and Healthcare industries. One-third of the world’s energy is created by GE, 90% of power transmission utilities worldwide are equipped with its technology, and 40% of the world’s energy is managed by their software.

GE’s reach is global. Their relationship with countries that have robust energy sectors, such as Qatar, has been well documented. In 2007, GE Oil & Gas technology played a significant role in the successful launch of RasGas Company Limited’s LNG train 5. This project has aided Qatar in achieving the goal of being the world’s largest LNG producer. GE Aviation has also invested in Doha through their repair collaboration with Qatar Airways.

One of GE’s long term goals is to make impactful changes to the world around them. Their mission is to “rise to the challenge of building a world that works.” They are using their considerable influence to address pressing issues such as climate change. By 2030, GE plans to be entirely carbon neutral by reducing direct emissions and energy use during operations. They have also announced their exit from the new build coal power market to focus on their core businesses of renewable energy and power generation.

Overview

The establishment of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MOTC) and its mandates in accordance with Amiri Decree No. 4 of 2016 is an expression of the goals that the country seeks in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. The Ministry confirms its commitment to hard and diligent work through projects and programs that aim to build a land, maritime, and aviation transportation system founded on the latest technologies and best practices in the sector.

MOTC also performs a critical and far-reaching role in overseeing the development of the information and communications technology sector. It works to make it more vibrant and advanced, and in creating a diversified economy that will benefit all the people of Qatar.  It also  is developing e-government programs and boosting capacity and digital literacy to foster a technology-friendly environment that introduces innovative approaches to how we communicate, live and work.

The Ministry invites all public and private entities to cooperate in order to continue to develop the homeland and achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030.

Raytheon is a key player in Qatar’s military player and exports a variety of military and security equipment to the country. In 2019, Raytheon was awarded two contracts worth approximately $2.2 billion by Qatar for integrated air and missile defense capability. In 2020, they were awarded a $77.6M contract from the US Air Force for a Qatar Air Ops Center modernization project.
