Qatar Central Bank (QCB) is the monetary authority of the country. It is in charge of coming up with the country’s banking and monetary policy and regulating the financial sector in a way that maintains and improves the stability of the national economy. QCB manages financial reserves in a way that maintains the stability of the Qatari Riyal (QR) exchange rate against the US Dollar. QCB also ensures QR transferability into other currencies at any given time. QCB assists the banking and financial sector, stabilizes the prices of goods and services, and incentivizes innovation in the delivery of services, the start up of businesses, and the stimulation of different financial pursuits. QCB engages in providing financial institutions with the necessary licenses to be able to engage in financial services and activities, and controls and supervises said services.
