QatarGas
Overview
The Qatar Gas company was founded in 1984 after the discovery of the North Oil Field several years prior. The North Field lies off the northeast shore of the Qatar peninsula and covers an area of more than 6,000 square kilometers , equivalent to about half the land area of the State of Qatar. The development of this major natural resource has been a significant factor in Qatar’s economic growth. The gas produced from this giant field is processed to produce Liquified Natural Gas, Gas To Liquids, Natural Gas Liquids, and other gas-related industries, in addition to pipeline gas for export. Since then QatarGas has been able to become the largest Liquified Natural Gas producer in the world.
In 2018, QatarGas has achieved several goals such as managing and operating 14 LNG trains, six of which are mega trains, each with a production capacity of 7.8 mtpa, two domestic sales gas production facilities, two condensate refineries, two helium production facilities, the Ras Laffan Terminal Operations, and major shipping and global sales contracts. It is planning on further expansion and to maintain and better its relationship with its partners in the US and across the world.
