Overview

Louisiana is one of the five states that are located on the Gulf of Mexico. It shares its inland borders with Arkansas, Mississippi, and Texas. The Pelican State's capital is Baton Rouge, while New Orleans is the largest city. It is the 31st largest and maintains its position as the 25th most populated state, holding approximately 4.62 million residents. The gross state product in the state of Louisiana reached $270,100,000,000.

The top industries in Louisiana by economic output are manufacturing, real estate, rental, and leasing, and healthcare and social assistance, while the state actively targets growth in aerospace, agribusiness, entertainment, software development, and water management. Maintaining its status as a premier global logistics hub, 5 of the top 15 largest ports in the United States by tonnage are located in Louisiana. Additionally, the state remains a major powerhouse for domestic energy, ranking as the third largest natural gas producer in the country and standing among the top ten states for crude oil production.

Louisiana's core contemporary trade dynamic with Qatar centers on a shared, intertwined role in the global liquefied natural gas (LNG) market. Rather than a standard export relationship, Louisiana and Qatar operate as massive parallel forces, with Louisiana-based infrastructure projects—such as the massive Golden Pass LNG terminal—being developed as major joint ventures directly co-owned by state-backed QatarEnergy.

The Louisiana Department of Revenue deems that all corporations and entities that are taxed as corporations for federal purposes deriving income from Louisiana sources must file for a tax return in the state. The state has transitioned away from its graduated system to a flat corporate income tax rate of 5.5%.
